Research for music video: Vernalis's theory

Carol Vernallis theory on the edits in a music video are:
  • Edit that are easy to spot draw attention to them like using a wipe or special effect within the music video.
  • The traditional rules of 'continuity' editing are not been followed in music videos to attracted the viewer to see what’s on their screens.
  • Jump cuts are used 
  • There’s a base track to make the music video have structure
  • The camera and edits move with the beat of the music
