Feedback from Annabel on Rough Cut

In today’s lesson, it was the deadline for our Rough Cut for or music video. We as a group were just finishing in putting our scenes into final cut pro when our teacher Annabel came in to see how our music video was going. We played what we had and she was impressed because we followed her advice and made some adjustments like when our artist ‘Yumi’ was playing the guitar, she was playing in time with beat but we managed to have that scene in time with the beat by choosing the specific part of the scene that we wanted to accompany the track. 

However, there were new scenes that Mika recorded at home with Yumi where Yumi is facing the mirror and singing. The problems hat Annabel pointed out was that these scenes were to dark, there wasn’t enough lighting to depict what was happening and the darkness made the focus all fuzzy. She was impressed with the concept of having our artist singing in front of the mirror because she is looking at herself and criticising who she is and how lost she feels but the darkness of the scenes and the little lighting made it look difficult and unprofessional to watch. 


So we all agreed that we had to do more filming in order to accomplish the whole planning of our music video. So on that same day, when college finished, Mika and Yumi at home re-did the footages in front of the mirror with the lighting and the steady shots of the scenes and we all agreed to film extra base tracks from different variation of shots at the Barbican on Saturday to make our music video be sustained strongly from beginning to end.

These feedbacks were very useful because even though we planned to do shoot these scenes, we never know what the outcome could be and we usually don’t spot the tiny faults with the scenes for our music video, so its good to have advice from our teacher.
