A digipac is a booklet that comes with the album, it usually has 4, 6 or 8 pages in it. It contains information usually never seen before photos of the artist. And information about the songs on the album, some have speeches or thank you's in them.
The digipack is mainly for real fans of the artist who go out to spend a little extra in order to attain something extra. Its the artist way of giving back something to their fans.
Including a digipack is usually popular because;
- It allows fans to see different sides of the artist
- It relates back to the genre of music
- It is an expression of the artist's intent
- To create an identity/personality
Digipacks have become more and more popular as its a way of artists and record labels making more money. It can also help combat piracy as those who illegally download the music wont recieve the extra's unlike if they were to buy it.
