Researching Ancillary products: Magazine advertisments

The Fly magazine is a free music magazine which is published in the UK every month. It is published by HMV (MAMA group)  I  looked at this magazine to find some averts that I might like it had a lot of different adverts for different artist and band but I though these adverts links to our genre the most.

Ellie Goulding 'Lights' advert:

This advert has a mid shot picture of the artist and in the artist name in on top of the image but it is smaller than the image which grabs the viewers attention. The effects on the image works really well with the text because it is in the same colour and they both have a glowing effect to it the black background makes these effects stand out as well. I think this relates to our genre because it has a simple layout which suggests that the genre will be calm and simple. It has a singer- songwriter feel to it because it only shows one image which is of the artist.

Peter Doherty ' Grace/ Wastelands' advert:

This advert uses graphics as an image instead of using the real artists image I like the way it uses three main colours for the image but it still looks interesting and unique.

Kids in glass houses 'In Gold Blood' advert:

This advert links with the album title 'In Gold Blood' because it uses gold yellowy text and the image is gold. I  like they have created the image by using a black background and  a black manikin  then throwing gold paint on it which creates a figure.

Ladyhawke 'Ladyhawke' advert:

This advert uses graphics drawn with water colours the soft colours  and the white background and the black text it also links back to her music video style which uses illustration.

I like the way the image of the artist has a illustration effect to it.
